Good site, but spotty support

The site itself is good, and if they are honestly representing their services and privacy it is quite valuable.

My problem with AS (anonymnousspeech) is its customer service, which can be very weird. Twice in a year I have tried to sign on, only to find the site had vanished! Each time, they were removing their servers to a new location. They did not offer much explanation for doing this--was there a security risk? Legal pressures?

Originally, their servers were in Japan, and they stated they were moving to Malaysia. I wrote and asked their administrators why they were moving to Malaysia and they replied, "Our servers are not located in Malaysia." I quoted their own website back to them and asked the original question again, plus a subsequent follow-up: why, also, did their own administrator apparently not know that their site was in Malaysia, AND that their website clear said so? I got no reply at all.

The next time their website moved, they did not answer emails asking why. I think paying clients have a right to know whether the company has been faced with legal challenged, investigations, breeches of privacy, etc. But they offered not a word to explain the reason for relocating, and the loss of all service during the switch. They DID reimburse clients with an extended subscription, but they also continues AS's habit of simply ignoring inquiries into the crucial subject of server security.

I've also tried to contact support for technical issues. When sending an email to any non-AS account, they seem to format just fine. But when replying to a peer AS subscriber, emails adopt an html-character format, meaning that all the html tags appear EVEN when you are sending in encrypted text, not html. I asked customer support, but got no reply.

Other minor quibbles: posts to the support forum must be approved by the administrator, and they seem to be very selective. I've submitted posts to inquire about security and technical issues, which have never seen the light of day. They just ignore them. When my inbox is full of "MESSAGE DELIVERY DELAY" notices (which means that the AS site had not been able to send my message to other email recipients), AS does not respond to my inquiry why this happens.

AS does not offer an "ato-reply" feature, which should be basic. When a user leaves for vacation, for example, there is no way to set up an automatic response to people who contact me. If you use AS for essential correspondence, including business, you risk the loss of clients when they wonder why you've not responded for days. AS has been asked since its beginning to offer this feature, but has not.

In summary, AS is a SUPERB resource, assuming its claims of encryption strength, privacy, and legal autonomy/protection are true. They fall VERY short on customer service, tending to respond at whim and ignore most inquiries and declining to explain sudden, unanticipated rushed server relocation, even though this would seem to be crucial security information which paying clients deserve to know.
